My day at *work* -chuckle chuckle

Yea, so I didn't have to be at work until 8. Cool beans. What'd I do today to earn my paycheck?? LOL, I drove 3 different commander's vehicles over to have them washed, where I sat in the A/C, drank Turkish tea(pretty good, actually) and read Cosmo while the Hajis washed the trucks.......then I shredded papers and took them to the burn pit. Took a 3 hour break, 'running errands' as the guy I was working for called it. Came back for a half hour, then got off work. And I don't have to go in until 10 in the morning.......good stuff.....

Ebay, Ziggy, Machine and next week

Ebay...oh how I love Ebay.....it's addicting. I can't help it, there are things on Ebay that call out to me to be bought and sent home where I won't see them for another month or so.......I firmly believe that the reason I have an Ebay addiction right now is because I am deployed and bored. But I am buying useful items....I promise. For instance, how many of us recall the little Tupperware molds for homemade popsicles?? My mother used to put KoolAid in them and freeze them.....well, I bought them off Ebay so I can do the same thing for my kids!!! And what's funny is that I couldn't get a single Tupperware consultant to find them for me! How ridiculous is that?!?! Oh, and I bought MiniZiggy some clothes for the fall off Ebay......kids clothes are great to get second-hand, honestly, simply because they haven't been used that long since kids grow fast....C. Adam, keep this in mind!!! Consignment shops are great for kids clothes, especially little girl stuff!!!!

Ziggy.......my husband is so funny. And he SOOO needs to get laid......poor man. I really need to go home...he's got some ideas that I am just dying to try!!!!

Machine....I have finally seen a picture of Machine......and yes, he looks a bit like Weird Al, without the funky-fro......lol....

Next week I get to work days, in a different area, cause of my foot......fun fun fun.....I'm sure I'll have plenty to post about......

Have fun, guys!!!

Thanks CrazyGirl!!!!!!!

I got the box you sent me today!! Thanks a bunch, girl! I appreciate it!!!

Well, a while back, Machine and I were chatting about deployed personnell having to register their blogs. Apparently this is true, but so far seems limited to the Army personell, or atleast that's the idea that I got from the article I read in the Stars & Stripes. I guess there are troops over here that are writing some up close and personal stuff about their experiences over here, and as per normal, Big Brother doesn't like all their secrets to be given away. It is inevitable that this would happen, what with laptops being pretty well common among the deployed folks......people are going to talk about their experiences over here, just like they've done during any other war, with the exception that it's more electronic now than it ever was in the past. In the past it was letters home, now it's blogs and no doubt, emails.....so the government is worried about the security factor in all this.

Here's my question........what about the locals and the third country nationals that live and work on the bases over here? You can't expect me to believe that they aren't telling their friends and family back home about what they see and hear on the bases. And you can't expect me to believe that some of the insurgents haven't infiltrated these folks and are getting info about the bases. I am not that naive. They get mail, too, I am sure. I have no dount in my mind that they have internet access like the rest of us here (I've seen some of them using it at the rec center here)......so I am pretty sure the opportunity is there......just a point to ponder.

Update on Daddy and MiniZiggy

Well, apparently Daddy is fine. Which is good. I can stop panicking now.......

MiniZiggy, however, has pink-eye. Poor baby....Scout had pink-eye when he was about the same age. Ziggy thinks it won't be very difficult putting eye medicine in a 10 month old's eye......he has another think coming....oh, and MiniZiggy has finally cut his top two teeth.....and I've missed all of it.....

Hobble-along me and Daddy and a weird dream

Ok, let's go with me and the Hobble-along bit first.........About a month ago, I got a pedicure over here. This was a bad idea. My big toe on my right foot got infected, as the people who work in the beauty shop don't sterilize their equipment, despite being trained and told to. But I digress.....So a couple weeks ago, I go to the doc with my toe all icky and they put me on antibiotics, tell me to soak my foot in salt water, etc. Well, it got a bit better, but not completely, so I went back a couple days ago, and they decided to take off part of my toenail. So I am now on a profile, no running or jumping, no combat boot on my right foot. Joy is mine, let me tell you. I wonder what I'm going to end up doing at work, since I can't stand for prolonged periods, and can't wear a boot. More to update on that later. They gave me Tylenol with codeine, and the only good part about that is that it's the closest to being drunk that you can get over here without alcohol. And it did help me to sleep. So I am stylin' in my DCU's with one tan boot and one black sneaker....oh I am a fashion statement, let me tell you....

Now for Daddy. My Daddy to be specific. Daddy is 78 years old, and had a massive heart attack about 8 and a half years ago (Scout was a little over a year old at the time). Well, I get an email from Ziggy saying that I need to call Mama and find out about Daddy. Come to find out, Daddy went in for his yearly check up and they did a stress test on him, as usual. Well they decided to put Daddy in the hospital this morning and do surgery. So, this make me nervous and worried and scared......so think good thoughts for my Daddy, ok?

Weird dream, and I blame the codeine. I dreamed that I was going shopping with my neice for her wedding dress(her wedding is next May), and my husband went along with me. But it wasn't Ziggy. I still had Ziggy's last name, but I wasn't married to Ziggy anymore. Apparently I was widowed, and a friend of ours decided to marry me to take care of the boys. I'll call him The Greek. Ziggy, if he reads this, will know who I'm talking about. What's odd about this is The Greek has had no interest in women and kids for a while now. He's a single guy, that lives with Bear and Blonde. Nice guy, but got burned in the past and doesn't care for relationships. So anyways, this dream was so odd....he went everywhere with me...I guess we'd been married for a while but it was in name only, because he asked if he could kiss me......I'm telling you, the codeine does weird things......

Ok, now I'm curious

Who the hell is Bg??!?!?!?! And what does this individual know about me and Alaska???? Yes, I am most curious now.......

Well, the eye feels a bit better. Still a little scratchy, but not nearly as bad as it was. My laundry bag is definitely gone, I went to the laundromat and no such luck....

Have fun guys

Time off and bad news

Well, let's go with the bad news first. We get into the shop tonight and have a little pow-wow with the Senior Master Sergeant that is over all of us. He springs on us the *good* news.......we are all slated to leave 30 September. As in leaving Balad, not Al Udied. So far the track record for time spent in Al Udied is 2-3 days before going back to the real world. Which puts me back in the States somewhere around the 3rd of October, or thereabouts. This is bad news because MiniZiggy's 1st birthday is the 2nd of October. I may cry for missing it.........
The guys that I work with like this idea of leaving that late, as we'll get an extra month of that tax-free pay. This is of little consequence to me, I will get paid regardless.......I just want to be home with my baby for his birthday.

Alright, the time off. Being the good former healthcare worker that I am, I went back to the doc about an infected toe, as a result of a pedicure I had done over here about a month ago. Well, as it turns out, they have decided to take off part of my toenail on Wednesday morning. Which means that I'll probably be out of work for a day, atleast. This occurs after my second day off. Oh, and I am off tonight as well. I dropped something in my eye at work, did the whole eyewash station thing, and ended up going to the ER. They got it out (and offered to let me keep whatever it was in my eye) and sent me home for the rest of the night. So, I am having a bit of time off....fun fun fun.

Alright, I think that's about all for now........stay safe guys......

6 weeks left

So I have right around 6 weeks left in this hole before I return to the real world. And I can hardly wait to get out of here.

Lost my laundry bag....and I really don't feel like carrying my laundry to the laundromat all by myself without the bag, so laundry may have to wait until Tuesday night to get done. I am so lazy tonight.

May need an eBay fix...very tempting to buy things that just catch my attention and I don't really need. THus the reason for eBay, I think...or atleast eBay anonymous....

Oh, just as an afterthought, I SOOOO need to get laid. I'm suffering over here.

Ok guys I'm tired....going to bed.....

Just for clarification.....

Machine, my dear........I'M NOT ADOPTING YOU!!!!! I'll drink with you, show you my tats, but no adopting you!!!!!!

LOL...

Adoptions and arguments

So Ziggy and I are thinking of adopting a baby. Yes, yes, I know, we can have children, but I'd like to do something for those kids that don't have happy homes, or hell, homes at all. See, I was adopted when I was little, at the age of 4. My way of giving back to those who took me into their homes(I was a foster child prior to my adoption), would be to do the same for someone else. Ziggy and I have so much love for our kids, and we'd love to have another one to love and spoil, too.......so we are researching the in's and out's of adopting.

I have the little daydreams of a little girl to play dolls with and put bows in her hair, and to teach all the things that my mother taught me......

Now for the arguments...well, just one, actually. Ziggy and I had the worst argument of our entire relationship tonight. I mean bad......I have never been that angry with him......

Rascal Flatts

Well, tonight was the Rascal Flatts concert at the movie theater here on Balad. Decent show, they sang the one song that I wanted to hear. Oh, for those who don't know who Rascal Flatts is, they are a country group. I got my pic taken with them, I feel special....got a hug from 2 of them, best action I've had since I got to this sandbox.

But, the highlight of the evening had to be before they ever set foot on the stage. We're all sitting in the audience, and they had a CD playing, right? Well, they played Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue by Toby Keith, and most of the people sitting in that theater were singing along....LOUDLY!!! It was awesome.

Night Off and a bunch of news I haven't posted

So, do we like the new template, or should I go back to the black?? I thought something a bit brighter would be nice.....

Well, I am off tonight, and the only thing I have to do is laundry. That's a welcome change. No homework for a bit is nice. I got email from my professor, and my exam answers still haven't made it to him. This annoys me, honestly.....but he says that until he gets the answers, I have a C........which means I passed, don't have to retake the class, and I don't have to pay back the tuition assistance.......this is such good news!!!!

I really do need to update my list of readable blogs, and add pics. I have plenty of pics I'd love to put on here....

Oh, eBay.....You know, I think I have bought more off of eBay since I've been over here than I have the entire time I have been registered on the site?! It's certainly a nice diversion from the mundane over here. I bought two lovely quilts for Ziggy and I. One will be for our bed, and I think the other will go on the couch.

Pudge....dear Lord, what am I going to do with this dog of mine? She took off again, but came back this time, according to what Ziggy has told me. Ziggy is planning on finishing the new fence he has been working on, and I honestly think that will help keep her from taking off.

Speaking of dogs, my grandmother, Gamaw, as we all call her, had to have her faithful dog, MaxEBear put to sleep. He had had it rough for the past year or so, he'd gotten hit by a car and had to have a hip replaced and had a prosthetic(who knew they did that for dogs?!?!). Then he got sick with pancreatitis, and she had to put him down. Now, I am an animal lover, just like my Gamaw, so the loss of a pet is saddening......but she tells me that she has a new dog coming on Friday, and I am sure that she will be cheered up soon.

Other is coming to Balad. I think I may have already posted this, I am not sure. To his credit, I might add, he has put my absolutely FAVORITE brand of candy in the mail to me. Now, it may arrive all melted and gooey, but I really appreciate the thought.......gotta love See's candy from California!!!

MiniZiggy has two teeth now, and is about to cut his top teeth. He also turned 10 months old yesterday. I am hoping that I will make it home just prior to his 1st birthday. That is something that I really do not want to miss. I really need to post new pics of him in the photo album. He has gotten so big, it is hard to believe it is the same child!!!

Now, for a bit of serious.......there is talk, and it's been in the news, of a pullout of American and coalition forces out of Iraq as soon as next Spring. While I am not holding my breath on this, it certainly gives me pause to consider the course of my enlistment in the Air Force if such a thing were to take place. If, and I say IF in capitals, as nothing is set in stone, obviously....IF this was to come about, and deployments over here were seriously stepped down, I could see myself reenlisting......but like I said, I am not holding my breath.

Machine and I have emailed back and forth a little, and have come to the conclusion that if I am in Germany on the return trip from Iraq, I will let him know and we will meet up and party like rock stars....

Ok, I think that about covers it......be safe guys!!!

Damn blogger

I updated a couple days ago, and it never made it to the update. Pudge was a block away from the house when Ziggy and the kids went looking for her. She was happy to see them, and was very thirsty.

It is hot..........as in the high 90's AT NIGHT, and to make life even MORE interesting..........THERE'S NO GATORADE IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY OF IRAQ!!!!! Um, 2 words come immediately to mind.....that SUCKS!

Here's a news flash.....would you believe that Cadillac, Kermit and the rest of the guys I work with at Langley made me a care package and are going to mail it over here???? I shudder to think what they came up with to send me....this ought to be a good laugh.

Here's a juicy little tidbit.....guess who's coming over here........Other will be in country, here at the same base I'm at, the beginning of September.

Shout out time - - C.Adam-- Thanks for the support man! I hit chair-force the other day, and I don't think anyone noticed I hadn't been there in a while. But hey, I miss the place, so I'll be back.

Machine - Man, gotta say that just from what I've read on your blog, I'd hang out with you in person. You seem like a guy I could have a drink with and not worry about getting hit on.....

Brookie - Hey woman, long time no chat, and the bold type won't turn off......drop me an email!

Well guys, I am halfway through this place, and I am hoping the second half goes as quick as the first. Stay safe, and I'll update again soon, and hope it takes!!!

Return of the Pudge

Well, Ziggy and the kids went looking through the neighborhood for Pudge after they got home, and apparently they found her. She was about a block or so away from the house, and was VERY happy to see them, and was rather thirsty as well.......so she's home safe now. Okay, and for those wondering why you'd name a Malamute 'Pudge', I will dish as to why....when I got her she was 6 weeks old, and just as round as a basketball....fat little puppy, so she got dubbed Pudge. And the fat didn't last long, she's all muscle and very little fat now.

Well, another shift down, and I am now officially halfway through my deployment, and all I can say is that I hope the second half goes as relatively quick as the first half. Some guys I know from Elmendorf will be heading over here in September, and it will be nice to see some old buddies.

We got attacked last night, and apparently it hit somewhere in the housing area I live in, just hope no one got hurt.....possessions can be replaced, people are a little more difficult.

Have a good one, guys, stay safe....

Pudge

Pudge is my Malamute (Husky from Alaska) dog. And apparently, she has run away from home. Ziggy let the dogs out this morning, as he always does before work, and when he went back out to hook them up to their chains, she was gone. He went home at lunchtime and she was still missing. What worries me the most is that it is excessively hot and she has a double coat, so I am concerned if she gets dehydrated or worse, like hit by a car, or beaten by some idiot...

So I am worried about my dog. And I am worried about finals. But on the other hand, things aren't all that bad right now with the kids and Ziggy, so I can't complain....

Friday, July 22, 2005

Hi guys

Ok, let me explain something about the heat over here....Just because it gets hotter outside, DOES NOT mean that your A/C will work any better if you keep turning it down.....this knocks out all the power, and then NO ONE has A/C and we all get really pissy without our A/C, cause then we can't sleep........Sabe?

Gotta love eBay, baby.......bought myself a 3.5 carat manmade diamond(not a CZ, this is a lab created diamond) cause I wanted to see what they looked like in person. Well, it hasn't made it over here yet, but Ziggy says that it's huge and looks just like the real thing!!!

So I am car shopping. Emphasis on SHOPPING. See, I have this whole theory about shopping and buying. Shopping is when you look at something you might want. You check out the color selection, size, price, etc. Buying is is when you take it home with you! So I have been SHOPPING for a new car. Well, not brand-new, per say, but newer than what I have. And I am soooo spoiled on owning a BMW, that that's about all I have been looking at. That or something along the same lines.....

Psychology is almost over!!!! Finals are next week, and I can't wait to be done with this class! I just want to pass so I don't have to pay back the financial aide. Fortunately, the final is only over 3 chapters, so I have a prayer of passing!!!

Speaking of school, I am taking next semster off as there are no classes I can take online from way over here. So, a break will be nice....

My girl CrazyGirl, is going to hook my up with some haircolor, as I am not paying $38 to have it done over here. THanks girl!!! I really appreciate it!!

Alright, well, I am going to go for now, take care guys!!!

New beds and Anthrax, and whatever else I write about

Hi guys....

My dorm is getting new beds......and I have to stay up all day in order to help out. So I will get very little sleep today...we already got our new mattresses, which is all I really wanted as my old one was getting painful.

Anthrax.......well, I guess we are now under an 'emergency' allocation of the anthrax vaccine, and we all have to attend the mandatory briefing to educate us about it. And then we get to choose if we want it or not, and if we refuse, there's no disciplinary action.......

Well, I am about halfways(at the end of July) through this deployment, and it has gone quicker than I had anticipated. I hope the second half does the same. Oh, by the way, I have lost 9 pounds since I have been over here....I am totally loving that!!!!

Ok, well, I think I am going to head out for a little shut eye.....

Being ladylike and working slow

So I'm outside in the smoke area chatting with a few of the guys I work with. The conversation inevitably turns to sex. After a while, one of the guys asks another one if he'd have a problem with his wife sitting in on the same conversation. The second guy says no, and then asks him why. So the first guy proceeds to say that HIS wife would be more ladylike, and not in the conversation. Ok, I get pissed and get up and leave.

Alright, here's the deal, if dude had a problem with my sitting there, one of two things should have taken place. 1, he could have asked me to leave and 2, he could have left the whole conversation. Instead, he talked around me, aside from attacking me as a wife with what he said. Oh yes, I will have words to say to this person, and they won't be kind.

Working slow.........as it happens, we have few trucks to put armor on as of the current day. we have, in a sense, worked ourselves out of a job for the time being. So we spend our evenings trying to slow our work.......and honestly, that was more tiring than the actual work that we do.

On a happy note, my smallpox has healed finally, and I spent this morning in the pool.....Yippee........

Sunday, July 03, 2005

Here I am

We all went to see Batman Begins tonight. It was ok, I guess.

I have reached the point in my TDY where the cliques have formed, and the people who are participating in them are really pissing me off on a regular basis. And most of them, I work directly with. So while I get bitched at for taking a break, they can sit around a piss off all they want, and no one says anything to them. Yea, nothing seems to change, whether in the desert or back at the base in the States.

The kids are back home with Ziggy, and they all seem to be doing well.

I'm tired, I have a headache, I think I'll go to bed....

Friday, July 01, 2005

I tried to post yesterday

But for some reason the computer wouldn't let me post.

My Psychology professor wants to send my final over here and have the education office proctor it for me. I think he's going to change his mind and let me take it over the internet, since it takes so long for mail to get here. I really hope that happens.......

I got pictured of the kids from my Grandmother, and I can't get over how big the baby has gotten. He looks more and more like Ziggy every day......

Well guys, I had better go. I am still here in one piece, 11 weeks to go......

Stay safe....

Friday, June 24, 2005

I'm still here

My Psych teacher, good grief. My Psych teacher wanted me to call him about some of the assignments for the class. What happens when I call? He wants to know where I am, what the weather's like (um, it's Iraq and it's summer.........hot is an understatement), etc......

So I am still here, which is ok, I guess. My teacher was asking me why I am so eager to get all of my classwork done early, and to be quite honest, it keeps my mind off the fact I'm in Iraq. Movies, books, all of it, tend to make you forget, even for a small amount of time, that you are in a combat zone and that the people outside the base wish you would die or leave. So, anything to distract me, I consider a good thing.

It seems like people back in the States are oblivious to the fact that the armed forces are actually getting shot at over here. It's not as though it's not all over the news every day, insurgent attacks and convoys getting attacked. So why do people think we're over here on summer vacation or something? Believe me, Iraq is NOT where I'd be spending my summer vacation if it was my choice.........somewhere a good bit less hostile, me and Vin Diesel........you get the idea......NOT IRAQ.

So I am still missing Ziggy and the kids........I am so ready to go home.

Monday, June 20, 2005

Monday Monday

Well, my body finally shut down and went to sleep for a good bit, and now it seems like I am back on the routine of sleeplessness. What joy is mine.

Ziggy is back in Virginia, at home, so it's not so hard calling him now. Being able to talk to him every day really makes this better.

I talked to my mom this morning and MiniZiggy has started walking while holding onto the furniture. I hate that I'm missing it, but atleast I'm getting told about it.

Scout's baseball team won the championship and he was so thrilled to hear about it! He'll get his trophy after he gets home, and I know he is excited about that.

Well, I am going to go for now........be safe guys!

I just can't get any sleep

Life in a war zone sucks. I haven't been able to get a good days' sleep in a few days. Even the energy supplements that I bought are starting not to work. One day it's a fire alarm that wakes me up, and then I can't go back to sleep. Then, yesterday, mortars landed behind my dorm, and of course I heard that and was awake for a while and couldn't go back to sleep. Damn the insurgents............they're cutting into my sleep!!!!

MiniZiggy said Mama finally......IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! Also, my mother reports that he is also getting brave with the walking bit and has started to let go of the couch and try to take a step or two.....it's so neat, but sucks that I am so far away and missing it.

Called Ziggy the other night and he was out with his class for dinner, and was trying to talk to them, me and drive all at the same time. And we all know that men are not the best multitaskers, and Ziggy is no exception. So when his phone lost the signal, I didn't bother calling back. It kinda bugs me that he was sort of blowing me off to try to talk to people in the car. Yea, I'm a bit peeved about that. To the point I really don't feel like calling him today.

Baby fever is getting a bit worse. One of my coworkers and I were talking about our kids tonight, and he mentioned that he wanted another child, and would like a girl, since he has 2 boys already. Well, that just added fuel to my little fire of wanting another baby......or atleast to be home and be able to play with my babies!!!

Ok, that's about all I have for now. I am tired, hungry, and I need a shower.
Have a good one guys....

Sunday, June 12, 2005

Baby fever and I am a bit depressed, 2 weeks down

Ok, let's do the bit depressed bit first. Get it out of the way. As I have mentioned before, AFN TV runs alot of shows that just depress me to no end. To the point that I can't even think about my kids without fearing that something terrible is going to happen to them while I am over here. As if that's not enough, Ziggy calls my mom and she asks him if we all go to church - now let me give you a little background. My parents are Southern Baptists. They are at church every time the doors open. Now, right before Ziggy and I got married, my mother gets this crazy(from Ziggy, yes, it's crazy) promise from Ziggy that he will get me and Scout to church every Sunday. Yeah. Anyone who knows Ziggy knows that Ziggy doesn't go to church. Ziggy doesn't believe in God, he believes in reincarnation. Or atleast that's the way he explained it to me. ANYWHO....Ziggy calls my mom the other day, and is telling Ziggy about Scout going to Bible school and how impressed the teachers were with how well Scout knows his bible verses. She asks Ziggy if we've all been going to church........and the conversation went downhill from there. My mother starts giving Ziggy one of her famous guilt trips about his promise to her (he never should have made it, I could have told him that she's never going to let him live it down). Well, then I get to hear about it when I talk to Ziggy this morning. Religion has never been an easy topic in my house, because Ziggy and I differ so much in our beliefs. So Ziggy wanted to know why I hadn't been taking Scout to church, and so I had to explain........see, the way I was raised, women keep the peace in their houses with their husbands, and I explained to him that in order to keep peace in my house, I don't mention church, and we don't go because I was raised that church is a family thing, and it's not the whole family without him. Now, to try and dart himself out of this whole little schpeel, Ziggy says that he has always considered both of us to be the heads of the house. I told him that he wasn't going to be able to talk himself out of that one. He trys, I'll give him that much. So the whole conversation just depressed me.

Baby fever.......I have a friend who just had her second child, a pretty little girl. 3 months after her older child turned 1. Now, I can't say that I'd want my kids to be that close in age, but it makes me want another child in a bad way. Trying to keep focus on finishing my degree is really hard when there are little babies to play with and cuddle and love on. And I just love babies. I mentioned adopting a baby to Ziggy and I got this weird reaction from him, and that upset me, too. Talking to Ziggy hasn't been the happiest experience here of late, I end up getting sad and crying.

Well, 2 weeks down, 14 more to go, and I think I'm going to go absolutely nuts in this place. Work bores me to death, and you can only check the email and surf Ebay so much.

Talk to you guys later.....

Tackle Box and AFN radio

First, Tackle Box......Tackle Box is an Army contractor over here that does the same job that I do, only is here for a LOT longer, and gets paid WAY more. He has facial piercings, thus the name Tackle Box....

AFN radio.....Ah yes.....ever wonder what happens to all those requests that people call in to radio stations and they never get played? They get played on AFN radio. AFN radio is the Armed Forces Network, and no matter what station it is(there are only 2 here), they play the same 3 or 4 country songs......over and over and over.....and they are the saddest songs they can find, I swear. No wonder there's so many suicides.......and AFN television isn't much better. All the cop/murder investigation shows that are so good to watch back home are REALLY depressing over here. All murder and gore and such.....and the odd Will & Grace episode.

Oh, here's something to tickle the funny bone.......I went to bed at 10AM, right? Since I work nights, I have to go to bed in the morning. So, I crash into the bed, and 15 minutes(no shit, I looked at the clock), someone knocks on the door and says we have to evacuate because EOD(the ammo/explosives guys) has brought the bomb sniffing dog to check out a suspicious package. Joy.......so we all troop outside into the 100 degree heat, half asleep(cause we all work nights) and gather up. We aren't out there a full 2 mintues when we are told that we can go back inside, the dog didn't get anything boom-worthy. Yea.........it took longer for us to get outside than it did for the dog to clear us to go back in. Military intelligence, folks.......

Tough classes and a story

School while deployed is NOT going well. I try to email my teachers from my school email addy, and I get virus reports in response, so I am pretty sure that my teachers aren't getting any of my emails. SO I tried form my work email addy. We'll see if I have any better luck.

So I get to call Ziggy, via morale calls on DSN numbers(government phone numbers for those who don't know) pretty much every day. Which really helps with my morale, as being away from my best friend(aka Ziggy) just sucks. So getting to talk to him for a half hour or so helps alot. Plus we email regularly. I call my Mom twice a week so I can talk to Scout and get regular updates on MiniZiggy. She's sending me some of her WONDERFUL turtle cookies, and I can hardly wait for the box to get here.

Work absolutley bit last night. I set up the new armored battery boxes for the trucks, and I also put the foldaway mirrors on the cabs, and once my job is done, I am pretty much bored out of my mind, as I have nothing to do. So last night it seemed like nothing I could do was right. Even the simplest thing was a major hassle. And this one guy kept bringing it all right back to me. I wanted to slap him silly. I mean hard enough to make his ancestors hurt.

I really appreciate the responses I have gotten from folks about my being over here. Thanks for stopping by!!

I have an idiot story for you all, and you're going to love it.........on my night off, the fire alarm goes off in my dorm. I leave shortly after it starts, and not in too much of a hurry, since there was a sandstorm happening at the time. Anyways, I get back from work the next night, and there are a couple of girls talking about the alarm going off, fire department coming, etc. I asked them if they'd found out what had set it off, and here's the story that's bound to crack anyone up that's been in the Air Force...........come to find out, as everyone is standing outside while the fire department does their thing, one of the Army chicks(that JUST moved into the dorm a day or 2 before) pipes up and says that they were treating their uniforms with some bug repellant, and it smelled so badly that they opened their windows......IN THE MIDDLE OF A SANDSTORM!!! Thus, setting the fire alarm off...........I tell ya, there's idiots everywhere, even in a war zone!!!

1 week down, 15 to go

Well, I have lived through my first week in Iraq. I've lived through a few mortar attacks, and managed to sleep through them more than anything. Not bad for the first week.

Work is already becoming monotonous and boring. We do the same thing over and over again. We add armor onto the 5 ton trucks that roll through here on convoy. We work 6 days a week, 12 hour shifts, and we work in teams. Every team member has a job that is done on every vehicle, and mine is to prep the armored cab and the battery box. Yippee. Takes all of 6 hours, if I take my time. We are working nights right now, and halfway through our deployment, we are supposed to shift to days. I don't really care, except it's hotter on days than it is on nights.

The setup over here isn't so bad. Good food in the chow hall, movies and TV's and a free laundry, a gym, phone center and library all in the area of the housing, so that's nice. There are shuttle buses that take us around to the Post Office, BX, Pool, things like that. Honestly, if this is supposed to be awful, it's not that bad. Not that I'd want to stay here any longer than I absolutely have to, but for the time I'm here, it's ok.

School is proving to be more of a challenge, since the time difference is 8 hours ahead of the East Coast in the States. But it's getting worked out, so I will probably be on a schedule sometime soon.

My parents currently have the kids, since Ziggy is in training out in California and I'm in Iraq. My mom was telling me that Scout is being a really big help to her with MiniZiggy. She also says that MiniZiggy has started pulling himself up on furniture to a stand. I hate that I'm not there to see it, but my mom is a decent substitute. She promises to send me pictures and plenty of cookies. She told Ziggy that MiniZiggy is the easiest baby that she's ever taken care of. And my mother has taken care of a LOT of children, seeing as she was a foster mother for a good long time. She says that MiniZiggy is a happy little boy, and that he will let her know when he needs something. She also said that he got passed around the nursery at church, and they put a sticker on his back saying that he'd had lots of hugs. I miss my kids so much.

Speaking of missing the family, it's not as bad as I had anticpated. Yes, it sucks being away, but I get regular emails from Ziggy and I can call my mom pretty regularly and talk to Scout and get updates on the kids, so that helps.

Well, I think that's all I have for now. Take care........

I'm settling in I think

Now, if I can just keep up with my college classes, I should be good to go.

Work feels slightly less overwhelming, which is good. It will get monotonous, I am sure, but isn't that normal with any job? Ok, except for the getting shot at by mortars by evil insurgents bit.

I got a new room, with only 2 other roomies. Which is nice. They work opposite shifts, so only one is in the room at any part of the day. So there's fewer to disturb when I come barging in with body armor and such at 0730. And these roomies aren't nosey, which is also nice.

Today I will get my mailing address, so Ziggy and anyone else can send me things. Since my suitcase handle is broken, I may have to acquire a new suitcase for the trip home. Hopefully I won't have so much stuff for the return trip. I know I don't have to haul my chem suit and such all the way back to the States, and that's a great relief. WAY too many bags to lug around. And my suitcase should be a good deal lighter, so that'll be nice. I already have a list of things that I want Ziggy to send me.

Well, I am off to a briefing. Stay safe, guys.....

P.S. Thanks for the shout-out, Crazy Girl!

Ok, I'm in Iraq

And I'm in one piece. The food is good. I've talked to Ziggy a few times, which makes me feel good.

My bed is broken, so is my suitcase handle. I have 4 other roomates, and one is nosey as hell!!!! Constantly watching me and wanting to know what I'm doing.

I feel totally useless at work, it's a bit haphazard. We don't really know how to go about our jobs, and the books with the information aren't accurate. So, it's a bit weird.

It's not as hot as I had thought it would be here, atleast not at night. THere's a nice breeeze, which is good. There are trees here, too, and Al Udeid didn't have that. We stopped there on the way here, it's in Qatar. Nice setup there. Nicer than here, but hey, you take what you get, right?

MiniZiggy has started pulling himself up into a stand, and I hate that I've missed it, but Ziggy is doing really well at keeping me up to date with the kids.

Well, I had better get going. I will keep posting as long as I have access to it, ok. Be safe guys!!!

Leaving tomorrow

So I don't really know how long it will be before I get to put another entry into my blog. Hopefully not long. This is a bit of therapy for me.

I am really dreading having to leave Ziggy and the boys behind. I want to just cry my eyes out at the thought. I will be missing so much with MiniZiggy and Scout, and I'm not sure I can stand it.

This will also be the longest that Ziggy and I have ever been apart from each other, and that sucks. We have always been so close, always in tune with each other, and this is going to really bug us, not having the other one right there next to us.

Well, I have a mountain of packing to finish, small stuff, really. Take care, readers.

Tuesday, May 24, 2005

Alright, I REALLY do mean to start packing this morning

I promise. I really do mean to start packing. But I just bought a stack of books that are crying out to be read!!! I really must discipline myself better so I can get the damned packing done and loafer around afterwards. Good plan, really.

My day in court

Yes, I went to traffic court today. This was the first time that I've ever fought a ticket I've gotten. I figured the worst that could happen is that I'd have to pay the freaking outrageous fine anyways.

First off, MiniZiggy didn't grace the world with his presence until 10AM. what time did I have to be in court? 11. Yea, so once I get there(which was an odessey all it's own), and walk 2 blocks from the nearest parking space, the lady at the metal detector tells me that I have to walk all the way back to the car and leave my cell phone there, since it's a camera phone. Can't have them in the court building....weird. Anyways, I finally get into the courtroom, sans ticket, and MiniZiggy decides it's time for him to have breakfast(good Mommy, I had already mixed up his cereal and brought it with me - and then walked out the door without the water for his bottles - hey, I'm not a miracle worker, ok). So he cries and cries to be fed. The baliff was nice enough to let me sit outside the courtroom and wait until my case was called. The judge decided that I'd be next, on account of the baby crying. So I get MiniZiggy fed, and back into the courtroom we go. The whole time I'm in front of the judge, MiniZiggy crys. And I don't mean whine, slight cry, I mean the kind that says, "I'm not happy and the world will know it until I get what I want! Or I'm calling Grandma!!!!'......so here I am in front of the judge with a screaming baby on my hip. How redneck did that look?!?!?!Yea.......so much for the self image, right? Well, I was raised in Georgia, so I guess it fits. Long story short, the judge reduces the miles I was going over the limit by 4. I am guessing that this changed what bracket for payment I was in. Oh well, $102.00 later, and I have 102 more airline miles.

So I am still procrastinating as far as packing goes. I have bought stuff to go with me, but haven't packed a thing. Washed desert uniforms and towels and sheets, but not packed a bit. I REALLY need to get a move on with this.....I guess part of me hopes that if I put it off, I won't have to go. But, I know I have to, no matter how much I don't really want to. Hey, atleast it's tax free pay, right?

Work update

Don't ya just love when people give you 'options' that still make you have to do things that you aren't supposed to be doing?

So, I call up Auschwitz at 0815, and get told by Cadillac that the shop boss, Mr. A, isn't there, to call back in an hour. So, I call back in an hour, and STILL end up talking to Cadillac. I have 2 options, he says. One is to show up at lunch for a function for an award the unit won, or show up Monday in uniform, between 8 & 9. And the uniform is an iffy requirement today. SOOOOOO.....ok, I'll go today. In civilian clothes, with MiniZiggy in tow.

Glory is my day off, right? But hey, the new Star Wars is out, and Ziggy promised to take me before I leave......

This ought to be interesting

Ziggy calls while I am on the way to the doctor with MiniZiggy yesterday. He tells me that Cadillac told him to tell me that I have to be at work at 0630 with my training records.

Let me explain something a bit......when I final outprocessed Langley for this little jaunt over to the desert, the nice people at Personell Readiness sealed up all my records - training records, medical records, etc. And I was given strict orders not to open the package until I get to Iraq. So, for Cadillac to demand this(and I say demand because, well, that's what he's been doing) is going over his own place in the chain of command. Oh, and he was very particular about reminding of MY place in the chain of command(I'm an E4, low on the totem pole, but not quite the bottom), and that he is above me on the chain of command. Anywho, I call up my big boss. The guy that's in charge of ALL the shops that do vehicle maintenance on Langley, and I ask him to look into this for me. I tell him the whole schpeel of how I was told not to open the package, yesterday was my last duty day according to his right hand man, etc. He says he'll look into it and get back to me. So.....a couple hours later, his right hand man calls me up and says not to come in, that whatever Cadilla needed can wait until after I get back from Iraq.

So, I am fully expecting a phone call here in the next little bit, wanting to know why I'm not at work, where my training records, are, etc. And I am fully expecting them to devise any reason possible to make me have to show up at work. Which, if I can help, won't happen. What's funny is that I once got my ass chewed for not going directly through my boss for something, and having Ziggy deliver the message, and here's Cadillac, doing EXACTLY what I was bitched at for and told not to do again. Yea, I work in the land of the fairness. Note sarcasm.

I swear

if my boss and supervisors want a way to try to fuck me, they try it. So I get this phone call from the daycare center, saying that MiniZiggy needs diaper cream, and since they won't handle that stuff, I have to come do it. So, Ziggy and I go over there at lunch, and the caregivers tell us that we have to take MiniZiggy with us, that he needs to go to the doctor.

So, we grab lunch and I troop back into the shop to talk to Cadillac and the civilian shop boss. So Cadillac jumps my shit, saying he's getting bent over from behind because I didn't come get him about a problem yesterday, and now I'm leaving and he has to clean up the mess. I wanted to slap him damn silly.

This man gives me hell for shit that he does himself. And then he won't correct his own peers for shit, but I get my ass reamed for it? 4 months without him is going to be very peaceful, even if I am getting shot at over there. I had semi-high hopes for my being under this guys' supervision, and now I feel as though I am in the same fucked up situation as before. I may not wait out my last 2 years, I may get out whenever I get pregnant, as Ziggy and I want to have another baby after I get back from Iraq.

Update

So I'm officially outprocessed out of Langley, right? Yea, well, guess what? My boss wants me to come to work! Great, huh???? I work in fucking AUSCWITZ!!!

This weekend was great. I did a whole lot of as little as possible. Very relaxing, I loved it. Have to do more of the before I leave. WHich is the 27th. Great, huh? Memorial Day weekend, and I have to go to Iraq.....there are reasons I am getting out in 2 years.

I went looking for a new car this past weekend. I test drove a Honda Civic, and get this, the salesman tells me that if I trade in the car I already have, I will have to pay Honda back for buying it, PLUS have to pay the loan on the new car. I told him I wouldn't buy the car then. So he proceeds to tell me the SAME schpeel 3 times over again. And every time, I get angrier and angrier, and finally I have to tell him that because of him, I won't be buying the car. He asks if I understand the process, and I flat out tell him that the car isn't worth 34K, and if I wanted to spend that much on a new car, it'll be a new BMW, not a 20K Honda.......what a dumbass.

Weekends

So I finished my first semester back in college with a 2.7 GPA. I got an A, B, and a C in my classes. And now I am waiting on the next semester to start.

I leave for Iraq on the 27th, or that's what they are saying this week. They pushed back the out process date, and now I don't know when it is. But I do know that I need to get cracking on the packing, or I am going to be incredibly behind.

I made curtains for the game room today, and am pleased at how well they turned out. Now If I can get Ziggy to hang them, we'll be all good. I'm thinking that a late night run to WalMart would be better than an early morning run, since the WalMart here is rather busy on Sundays.

MiniZiggy has started to crawl, and teething has begun. Poor child, he can't seem to do much other than eat and sleep. The ladies at his daycare keep asking me if he's all right, since he wants to sleep so much.

Ziggy is going to California for school(2 weeks long), in the early part of June, so my parents will have the kids for about 3 weeks. Poor Ziggy, they are going to be so spoiled, he won't be able to do much with them. I wish I were going to be here. I am going to miss the boys so much!!!

Countdown is on

So the countdown is on until I leave for Iraq. And Cadillac is up my ass constantly for having appointments that take me out of the shop. So life at work, a bit more than usual, is stressful. Like I needed any extra, right??

Whirlwind week

It's only Wednesday?!!?!? You've gotta be kidding me..........I've done so much in 3 days, it feels like more days have gone by.

Well, Monday I found out that I'm going to Iraq. Tuesday I spent the day in M-16 training. Where, might I add, I qualified better than I did the last time, and forward progression is ALWAYS a good thing. I even did my 'Go Me' dance. Today was busy as hell. I tested for E5 all morning. Right up until lunch, which for me, is at 1100. I got my papers signed so I could go get Desert uniforms without paying for them, and met Ziggy for lunch. After a quick lunch with Ziggy(I love my husband, he's so good to me, I'll explain in a minute), I went over to the deployment office and shuffled crazy amounts of paperwork that I need to outprocess with. After that, off to the Supply store to get desert uniforms. While I was there, Ziggy called my cell and said that the shop superintendent was looking for us, and he wants a meeting with us. So, off to the shop(this is about 1:30PM). Ok, so we let him do his blase blase bullshit speech and off I went again to the alterations to get all my stripes and patches sewn onto my deserts. Then I went to military clothing sales for the brand spanking new Air Force PT uniform, that's only available to deploying personnell. It's actually not that bad looking, I was impressed. All together, the whole thing, 2 shirts, 2 pairs of shorts and a running suit cost $141. Of my money, not the government. Which sucks a bit, but hey, it wasn't the $900 for my deserts and all that stuff! Back to the deployment office for more papers. Then off to the hospital for lab tests, shot records check(I don't have to get the small pox vaccine!!!!) and dental records check. Made some appointments, and PRESTO, back to the shop just in time to help clean up(3:15 PM). Cleaned up, left work at 3:40, got gas, headed home. Stopped at the college to drop off my tuition payment for summer semester, picked up Scout, and made it home right at 5:00. I've had a busy day. And more of the same, sorta, tomorrow.

Ok, why I love Ziggy. Ziggy has always had a way of knowing what I'm thinking or how I'm feeling without my saying anything( and from a guy who can't take a hint without a Mack truck coming with it, that's very cool). So I've been getting all the MiniZiggy hogging time I want, hang with Scout time, all that. But the best part is last night. Actually at 3:10AM today. I wake up from a sound sleep(I sleep like the dead) and am suddenly wide awake. Ziggy knows my mind is running like crazy with things I need to do, places I need to go, et, etc before I go to Iraq. Ziggy wraps me in my favorite position to sleep with him, my head on his left shoulder, me kinda flopped on his left side, his arms aound me, and promptly goes back to sleep. The especially cool part comes when my right arm goes numb, and I turn over onto my left side......he turns over too and wraps an arm around me, pulls me to him, puts his nose by my right ear, and goes back to sleep. I just loved it. Every move I made, he went and snuggled with me. To give you an idea of our heights, Ziggy is 5 foot 9 or so, and I am 5 foot 3.

So this deployment has me nervous. Mortar attacks aren't my idea of fun by a long shot. And I'm going to miss so much with the kids this summer. MiniZiggy has started crawling, and standing is sure to follow soon enough. And I'm going to miss it. Scout is playing baseball right up until the end of the school year, which is mid-June(the schools here are insane to go that long!!!), and I'm going to miss it. My parents are coming to North Carolina for vacation, and I was going to go down with the kids and see them, and well, I can't now. And dammit, Ziggy bought me Toby Keith tickets for Mother's Day, and I'm going to Iraq, so I can't go! Yea, I feel like I'm leaving all the good stuff behind to happen while I'm away. Not that I'm saying that I won't be serving a purpose over there, but that I feel I will miss lots of importnat things while I am gone. I just want to be home beofre the baby turns 1.

What a difference an hour makes

So I show up at the range this morning, for my M16 training, right? Well, half an hour later I am back at my duty section, wrenching. Come to find out, since I wasn't tasked to deploy any time in the near future, I'm not supposed to be in M16 training. Well, what a difference an hour makes. An hour later, I am short notice tasked to go to Balad AB, Iraq. As in I have to be IN THE COUNTRY on 24 May. Now you know why they are called SHORT NOTICE. Yippee. So now I have to run around like a lunatic and try to outprocess in 17 short days. Jump into my nightmare, the water is warm....

Sunday, May 01, 2005

PS....

MiniZiggy is 7 months old tomorrow, and get this.....has started crawling! He doesn't like to sit up, but he'll crawl!!!!

One semester down

And about 4 more to go until I am done with the piddley classwork part of my degree, and will be in a position to concentrate solely on the medical clinicals portion of my degree. I am so glad to be done with this semester. It seemed to drag on forever, but then again, 4 months is a long time to be in the same class. Atleast in my thinking it is.

I have a few weeks between semesters, and I really need a little break. Next semester is 10 weeks long, so atleast it's not as long. There's atleast the small mercy in that.

Apparently TheBoy got arrested, and CrazyGirl almost did, too. This ought to be an interesting story. I guess they are back together, in a way. Atleast they're sleeping together, I think. Eh, to each his/her own, I guess. I just want to hear what happened with getting TheBoy arrested.

It's the freakin' weekend, Baby!

WHOOO HOOOO!!!!! I am just SO glad not to be wearing woodland Camo BDU's for 2 days. This week just seemed like no matter where I turned, somehow I was getting more pressure and stress than I can deal with.

I have my PT test run, yet again, on Tuesday. And to make matters even more interesting, I have been going to this mandatory class for the people who are having a hard time passing the test. Does anyone show up? Nope. So when little miss ditzy Pt monitor bitches over my score, I can throw that back at her. And she knows that there's been no one there to run the program, as I've emailed her on several different occassions about this. Yea, this ought to be fun.....

I hit my 4 year mark in the Air Force on Monday. 2 more to go. I have a final exam due on Tuesday, so I know what I'm doing with some of my spare time this weekend!!!

Feeling blue

I don't know what's going on with me lately. I am feeling blue, kind of sad, and generally tired. I don't want to do much. But then again, who can do much once work, dinner, practice, homework, baths and housework are all done? I feel like passing out on a regular basis. My life seems to get busier by the day.

Big update

I started writing this update last night in class, and never posted it. She here it is......a little late, but hey, it's here.....

I am writing this update to my blogas I sit in an extremely dry class at Tidewater Community College.

My day at work was awful. Actually, my whole week totally sucked. It was pisson and bitch at AFeskimo week at Langley's Vehicle Maintenance shop. It was like I couldn't do anything right for Cadillac. I actually ended up in tears today from Kermit bitching at me. I am just glad that I don't have to work tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, my LASIK eye surgery is in the morning and I'm nfot ashamed to say that I am nervous about this.

On the home front, I got my car back, finally, from the body shop. I got lucky with the idiot that rearended us. His insurance company paid for everything, even my deductible. The funny thing is that MY insurance company couldn't even track him down unless they sent out threatening letters to him. Then, the only way they found him was that he'd filed a claim on his truck. Irony, let me tell you.

We have been so busy these past few weeks, it's insane. I have missed snuggling with Ziggy. Speaking of Ziggy, OMG, the visit with my father-in-law. His girlfriend is going through chemo, 'preventive', as she says, as her cancer is very very small. She griped over EVERYTHING!!! And her 16 year old daughter played up the spoiled brat routine to the hilt. This girl ran her mother down for anything and everything she wanted. And the mother gave in, no matter wht. My father in law didb't help it any, letting the girl have whatever she wanted. Yea, so I had these people in my house, while I'm on 12 hour shifts, and they are wanting me to stay up and hang out with them, and be able to get plenty of sleep before I have to get up and do it all over again the next day. I was very unpleasant, and poor Ziggy caught the brunt of it. But he handled it all pretty well, he's such a goof man.

The war phase of the exercise I was working in was WAY too easy. After 12 hours of not doing much, I was ready to be active on a shift. well, as it turned out, I did even less. Every attack I responded to got cancelled, so I was far more unproductive.

I got drunk dialed by CrazyGirl's ex, TheBoy. It was hilarious. He wanted me to drive up to D.C. and have sex with him. I laughed until I cried. He even pulled out the ever pathetic, 'Don't you know who I am?!' as a last ditch to get me to come up there. I cracked up. TheBoy is special in his own little world, and that's about it......I called CrazyGirl and told her about it, and we laughed some more.....

I have had my LASIK surgery now, and my eyes are a bit blurred, but I can see. Not well enough to drive, mind you, but pretty well. Ziggy is going to take me to class tonight because of it. The whole process wasn't very long, and they gave me Valium since I was nervous, and that worked pretty well.

Anyways, sorry it's been a while since I properly updated, but now that I have, I feel better. Have a good weekend!

Saturday, April 16, 2005

The weekend

I got Drunk Dialed by CrazyGirl's ex, TheBoy. It was absolutely hilarious. He wanted me to drive up to DC and have sex with him. I laughed and laughed over the idea. Then he brings up the all important kicker.....'Don't you know who I am?!?!" To which I replied that he was only special on his board, and I didn't care. It was hysterical. I laughed til I cried over this whole thing....and then I called CrazyGirl and told her about it, and we proceeded to laugh some more...it was the highlight of an EXTREMELY boring 12 hour shift at work.......

So I'm having my LASIK eye surgery this coming Friday. I have faced life behind glasses for as long as I can remember, so life without them seems a bit daunting. I was telling Ziggy about this yesterday, and he was thinking that I was having second thoughts, which totally to the contrary.

The weather is spectacular, though windy. Gotta love spring. My roses are doing smashingly well. I was planting one the other day, and I dug up a frog, and showed it to MiniZiggy, who was sitting in his bouncy chair in the yard while Mommy was planting flowers. What's the first thing my darling does? Tries to grab it. I wasn't sure how he would react to a frog, so I wouldn't let him have it. But I was pleased to see that he did get scared by it. The dog, Sagres(named for Portugese beer, of all things) scared MiniZiggy the other day, and he's been a bit nervous of the dog since.

Oh Lord am I behind

Sorry for the massive lack of updates. I am working in a war game exercise, and have been on 12 hour shifts for the past week and a half. In short, it sucks. And now I am on the night shift, so things are even more out of whack. and I am massively tired.

The nice bit about working nights is that I can catch up on the movies I've been missing, and get a baby blanket crocheted for a friend.

I got paid $700 in settlement from the idiot that rearended me. And then I got a speeding ticket, not even 2 miles from home. I am going to fight this, as I don't know how the hell the cop could use the radar while she was driving. I think it's bullshit myself.

CrazyGirl and TheBoy have split up, and CrazyGirl is in grief mode. I feel for her, and I just hope that she can find someone worthy of her, and be unimaginably happy. She's a great gal, and deserves to be treated as such.

Monday

I actually did alot of nothing today, and I didn't get into any trouble for it. Gotta love that.

I came home with a splitting headache, which I still have. I hate allergy season.

I finished my rough draft of my next English paper, and though it's not as long as the teacher wants, I think it's thorough, and that will make up for not being the requested length. I hope. I even vaccuumed 3 rooms of the house, I feel so productive. I may even go do a bit of laundry.....AGGGG.......laundry, what's gotten into me?!!?!?!?

I don't know what's into MiniZiggy lately. He hasn't been napping well like he usually does, and he's being fussy a bit more than normal. I wonder if he could be starting to teethe. Ah yes, that wonderful stage of life with grumpiness, crying, ear infections and getting teeth. Yay, what I live for...........

Ahhh....idiots

Apparently the moron that rearended my car doesn't have car insurance, and isn't who he said he was, nor the age that he said he was. Supposedly, this guy is 26, an electrician, and recently fell 4 stories, ripped his bladder off to one side, busted bones, teeth, etc. So WTF is he doing driving? He didn't have his license on him, and my insurance company is very curious to know why there was no accident report written, no ticket given for him not having a license, etc, and has even called the police department about it. So, we'll see what happens.

MiniZiggy is 6 months old today. Aww.........my how time flies.

My father in law is coming in this week. And of course, Ziggy is taking another week off. I, am not. I really want very little to do with him, his girlfriend and her 16 year old kid. That, and there are better ways to burn my leave time than to spend it with them.

I weigh 162 pounds. And I've been on a diet.......and gained 2 pounds. Yea, something has got to give. This is ridiculous. I have got to find something to help me lose this weight. I don't want to be seen in public much, and I almost burst into tears when Ziggy asks if I'm hungry. I feel guilty over anything that I eat, too. And having people ram my weight and slow running down my throat, on top of telling me that I'm going to get kicked out for not passing my PT test, none of this is very motivational. Cadillac isn't thrilled, either, and that's going to spell nothing but trouble.

I can't let Ziggy drive

I swear, I can't let my husband drive anywhere. We were on our way to work this morning, with MiniZiggy strapped in the middle of the backseat, and we got rear-ended at a stop sign not 5 miles from our house. Ziggy was driving. I swear, we haven't had the best luck with our vehicles lately. Anyways, MiniZiggy and I went to the ER, and we're ok(I have back pain, but nothing to warrant anything stronger than Motrin.). Now comes the fun of processing the claim. Ugh. I will have to update the story of the idiot that hit us later.....that's a story all it's own.

So, I go take my PT run test again, and I come in at 3 seconds slower than the last run. I know for a fact I'm going to fail because I am fat and slow. Something has got to give here, and I'm not sure what to do next. I already run myself ragged on the treadmill 3 times a week. I've been on a diet, for 2 weeks, and have only lost 2 pounds. This is bad. I don't know what else I can do....

So my Psychology class is almost over, and I have a middle C average, which is good, I am not complaining. I have one last grade to wait for, and then Child Psychology goes in the history books. My English class is turning out a bit tougher than I anticipated. I did manage to get my first paper's final draft turned in a day early. I felt very proud of myself for that.

Alright, enough of updates for now. Uniform must be ironed, boots polished, gotta go...

I am SOOOO behind

So I screwed up my first assignment in English already. I thought the Date Due said by midnight on 25 March. OOOpppppsssss, it's 24 March. Do I ever feel like a moron.........I did it, so we'll see what happens.

Had to bump my eye surgery until the 22nd of April due to an exercise at work. No big, gives me more time to save up for the surgery, since TRICARE won't pay for it. THey'll pay for boob jobs, but not LASIK eye surgery. Go figure.

Ziggy and MiniZiggy are home, which is good.........I'm happy about it.

Ok, short update, but atleast I got here to do it, as I have been megabusy......

Congrats CrazyGirl, on the new job! Be sure to swing through my area on your way moving up there, you can crash here if ya need to......

Monday Monday

It's Monday, and I have started trying to diet so I can lose of this weight and try to keep my job. So I am in withdrawals from Dr. Pepper. I have had one soda today, and my head feels like it's about to explode.

Ziggy and MiniZiggy are coming home tomorrow, and I can hardly wait. But the thing is, I can't get ahold of Bear to see if he'll pick up Ziggy at the airport, as Blonde made it pretty clear that they won't take Scout to baseball practice. Which I think is pretty shitty of her, but this is Blonde. Blonde is basically afraid of people who are black. She's quite racist, in fact, but won't admit it. Well, the town that Scout has baseball in has alot of black folks living there, and she won't go into that city by herself. Thus why they won't take Scout to baseball practice.

Mini update

I got off work early today, go me.......

Yea, so, I don't think Ziggy gets just how much it upsets me that I didn't get any consideration in the whole going to Washington excursion. The guys I work with, that know he's left without me, are not happy. They all pretty well agree that it shows a serious lack of respect to your spouse when you leave on a trip, other than business, without them. They aren't happy that I wasn't even asked to go. the funny is that I offered to go too, and was blown off, and then got 'You didn't seem interested' thrown in my face for an excuse of why I wasn't asked. How lame is that? One of the guys even mentioned that in marriage, you're supposed to be one with each other. And to go off without the other one is like saying you don't want to be one anymore, and that you don't want that person to be a part of what's going on.

And you know what? That's exactly how I feel. The guys have hit it all on the head. Hell, one got pissed off and said that Ziggy would be getting hell from him when he gets back.

Yea, I'm not happy about this.

Ooooppsss, long time between updates

Ziggy is finally in Washington. He calls me every day, and I even get email. Why don't I feel lie I miss him like crazy? I mean, yea, my days are different without him and MiniZiggy, but it's not like I'm sick with missing them. Ok, maybe MiniZiggy more than Ziggy, but you get the idea. I don't know, I almost rather he not call, because when he does, it's nothing new, really. Just the same things over and over.

Work is alright, I guess. I failed my PT test, I'll save that for another update.

Scout has missed most of baseball practice this week, due to the constant rain. I called his coach this afternoon, and he was an ass, trying to tell me that I didn't have a child on his team, since my last name and Scout's are different.

Well, I am massively tired. I am going to shower and go to bed. Oh, I had my hair cut off...

News updates

I am having LASIK eye surgery on April 8. I can't wait!

My Father In Law is coming to visit the 6-8 of April. And is bringing his girlfriend(no, my inlaws aren't divorced) and her 16 year old daughter. This, I can definitely wait for. Honestly, I don't really want to be around for this. I don't feel like making nice to people I'm not so sure I get along with, and strangers.

I have discovered that Ziggy surfs porn a good bit lately. Now, don't get me wrong, I know men look at porn and the magazines, etc. But, with all of this coinciding with his upcoming trip, weird behaviors and such, I am a bit curious. I was half joking with him last night when I asked him if he wasn't getting enough at home, and he trys to blow me off, saying that the computer has stored those sites for ages. Until I pull up the history( I know how to work that much of a computer) and show him what all he'd seen that day. BUSTED. So then I get the 'Am I being accused of something?' bit. Should you be getting accused of something? There's a good question. Hmm......hiding things from me, and not just web sites. Seems very telling....

Oh, and then comes the 'why are you upset' bit. He did this a couple days ago, and I let it go, didn't ask anything, didn't offer any information. He did it again today, too. He said that he knows me well enough to know when I'm upset. And then he starts apologizing for upsetting me. Again, I don't say anything, I let it go, not offering any information, and not asking for any. I don't think he knows why I', upset, and honestly, I'm not saying much, since I don't know what to say, nor how best to handle it.

Double standards and frustrations

My husband is about to piss me off. Why does it seem like I am the only one that can bathe and feed the baby? And why am I the only one that can load and run the dishwasher? And why, when he's already upstairs, am I the only one who can look for something upstairs for him? And why do I always have to use my bank card, when the whole fucking idea of him getting one was so he could pay for things, too? And why can't I spend any money to go out for lunch, but he can go out even though he brought his lunch?

Why wasn't I asked if I wanted to go to Washington? Why does my husband talk to his female friends more than he talks to me? Why does he sign emails to these friends, 'Love ya'? Why do I find out all of these things through the back door? Why is it I can't start a retirement account, or get my eyes operated on, but he can go spend money on whatever the hell he wants? Why does it seem like I am the only one trying to do anything around the house? Why does my husband take calls from people like it's a huge secret or something? Why does he keep checking his cell phone for calls, when previously he'd hardly remember to take it with him? Why does someone that he no longer speaks to randomly call him( and doesn't have his cell phone number) after getting the shit beat out of her, or threatened to be killed by her live in boyfriend? Why not call the damned cops? Why make him the first call you make? You're 3,000 miles away, what the hell do you think he's going to be able to do?

Why am I still here? Why is it that one minute he's kissing up to me, and the next he's an asshole, like his father? Why is it ok for him to get mad and take things out on me, but I can't do the same thing to him? Why does it seem like he's going to do whatever he wants, regardless of me and the kids?

Finally!!!!

Ziggy bought the tickets for him to take MiniZiggy with him to Washington State. I am so glad, as I am really tiring of this whole trip, and I'm not even the one going on it!!!Now, all I have to do is get them out of here on the 16th, and get them back here on the 22nd, and all will be well.....I'm just glad the tickets are finally bought.

Sunday, Sunday

So much going on in my mind......decisions to make, things to do, all this. And it makes me tired, I confess.

I am really wanting to get Ziggy and I set up with a retirement account. Something concrete, tax helping, the whole bit. I really don't want to end up like my parents, who have a fixed income, and didn't bother planning for retirement. Of course, my parents came up during the time that Social Security was sold as gospel to the masses, and now we all know that it doesn't pay all that much money out. So that is one of my goals for the near future. I've been looking at IRA's, and also Certificates, but I haven't decided on anything firm just yet. Much to think over.

I am on the prowl for an eye surgeon to do my LASIX eye surgery. I found one that wants $4400 for both eyes. I think this may be a bit steep, but I haven't looked around in this area enough to be able to tell. But I definitely want this done before, say, the end of the summer.

Weight loss. I have finally figured out what my problems are with losing the weightI gained since having MiniZiggy. First off, need to stop eating desserts. As I have mentioned before, I am on a serious dessert kick. I seriously need to scale this back. Also, I think I need to change my birth control. The DEPO shot is well known for adding and keeping weight, and I am pretty sure that it's part of my problem. So, when this one wears off, I am going looking for something else.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!

Did anyone notice I now have a photo album?????? Ok, everyone look below the archives and such, and there it is!!! Ok, I only have 3 pics in there right now, but more will come!!! I feel special!!!!!

Ok, I admit, I am afraid.......

Ziggy's going back home to Washington(I wish he'd go already, this waiting shit is getting on my nerves), and I am fairly certain he's going to see the female friend of his he's known/been in love with all his life(atleast until he met me, I guess). I really ought to name her, huh? Hmmm.......let me see.....I'm not coming up with much here. I got it. Kay. That's good enough for me. So why am I mildly terrified of something happening between the two of them and I lose my husband because I just had to kill him for betraying me?

Yes, I am over-reacting, and I widely acknowledge this. Go me, I can admit this.

I was telling Blonde (Bear's wife and a friend of mine for about 5 years or so) about this, and she told me that I wasn't nuts(which is good, because she and I are alot alike), and I ought to tell Ziggy about my fear. This is bad because then he won't go see her, and I know he misses her, and I know he talks to her(well, Duh.....I might not be fully aware of it, but I am pretty sure that I am right), and who doesn't want to go see their childhood friends that they haven't seen in ages? Ok, ASIDE from me..............

Anyways, there's my random for the day........

I am Chris!!!!

Or I'd love to be......anyone who used to watch Northern Exposure(God, I loved that show!!!!!) knows who I mean.....Chris was the radio guy who talked everything from movies to philosophy to his felony days as a kid.

I'd love to be that as a blogger. My own commentaries on the world around me, infused with insight and such. I wanna be Chris!!!!!!

I LOVE CoasterJoe's blog!!!

I do, I swear. This guy is awesome. He kinda reminds me of the guy in the TV show Early Edition. You know, the guy who gets the next day's paper the day before, and then runs around trying to fix everything. I just picture him, getting into his car, going to the train station, getting on the train, looking into the oblivion, all of it. He's wearing a 3 piece suit, long outercoat, nice leather attache bag, the whole snazzy outfit. He's a total businessman by day, and a wild coaster loving thrill seeker the rest of the time......

So, here's my shout out to CoasterJoe.......Love the blog, man!!!! Keep it coming!

Sick baby day

Well, MiniZiggy is 5 months old today. And we are at home because he is sick. Well, he and I are at home. Ziggy and Socut aren't here. This kind of sucks because poor MiniZiggy has the pukes. And the poops because of his medicine. His fever is gone, thank goodness. That was really starting to scare me. 103.4 on a baby is never a good thing.

So thus is my day. Take care of MiniZiggy and paint his room while he sleeps in our bedroom.

Hope your day is going well!!!

Monday blahs

The weather has been cold and rainy, which will dampen any good mood. And so, no, I'm not in a good mood right now.

Oh, for those interested, no new baby on the way. This is ok with me. For now. Who knows what the future holds.

Ziggy got his new truck today. He then decides to have me take him over to Bear's house(10 miles in the opposite direction), so he can get a ride over to the dealership to pick it up. Making sense yet? I didn't think so. So I tell him why don't I just rop Scout off at Scouts, drop you at the dealer, and keep Bear out of this whole process. He agrees. To make sure, he repeats it twice to me. And then gets in the car, calls Bear and tells him we are on the way. I got mad. This was so stupid, going out of the way to do something that could have been handled without middlemen. But no, I have to go home since I could go take him anyways. Clear as mud? Yea, I thought so too, I will never see why that was a better plan than me making the big loop around town and getting it all done without bringing anyone else into the picture.

To console myself I am going to iron, do homework, and generally avoid my husband because if I opened my mouth to him right now, it wouldn't be good. Self preservation is the key. Men.......can't live wit them, can't kill them because they just need it sometimes.....

Lazy Sunday, Hell Monday and days I love

I love weekends. To sleep in, hang out in my jammies all day, not have to be anywhere at any certain time......I live for weekends.

Hell Monday. Where I have to be SrA AFeskimo. Ironed uniform, shiny boots, updo for the hair. We have a uniform inspection tomorrow. I loathe these things because you always end up with the people who look like trash telling everyone else how badly they look in uniform. And then, if you correct them on their uniform, you are seen as being a smartass with a bad attitude. Yea, I work in Auschwitz.

I love the days when Ziggy and I wake up all over each other. I don't mean sexually(although that's great too), but when you wake up actually ON the other person in bed with you. All snuggled up like you just had to be there or you couldn't sleep properly. Late mornings(ok, with a baby, late is 730) when I can get up and bake muffins, scramble eggs and fry bacon for breakfast. Scout plays video games, and Ziggy and I cuddle on the couch and watch movies, and alternately nap through them. MiniZiggy lays on the floor and plays, and I sit there with him, laying on my stomach next to him, seeing the world the way he does. I love days when I'm not at work, and I don't have to do anything that I don't feel like doing. Makes life feel decadent.

Well, we will find out tomorrow if there's another baby on the way. Yes, I sort of hope so. Thinking pink here.....but if not, ok I can handle that for a while. Ziggy hasn't said much as to what he'd think, I guess we'd have to know for sure before we'd know his reaction. I'll post the results tomorrow.

Well, I am off to Cheesecake Factory(I go to the gym 3 times a week, I can have dessert) for some really sinful cheesecake. Since my pregnancy with MiniZiggy, I have been on a dessert kick, and it doesn't look like it's letting up any time soon.....might as well enjoy!

Baby fever, money idiots and the weekend

Sorry it's been a few days since I posted last. It's been crazy lately.

First off, no Cuba summer for me. My tasking got cancelled, and so I am home for the summer. Which is nice. So I'm home for Little League, etc. I think I already mentioned all this, but hey, I'm doing it again.

The insurance people haven't given us the money for the wrecked truck, and Ziggy is more than a little irritated with them because of this. I understand it, but I wish he wouldn't take it out on me. I cook for you, dear, don't make me mad.

I have to go get my second pregnancy test on Monday for my birth control shot. And part of me hopes that it comes back positive. I'd like another baby, I admit. I want a girl next. I have 2 boys. Time for some pink......

I am narrowing down the classes that I want to take for next semester, and I am going to break down and get Chemistry out of the way. I loathe Chem. There is no good reason I should have to have this class, in my eyes, but the college requires it, so I guess I'll have to take it for the degree.

Monday on Wednesday

Oh.......today just feels like a Monday, and it's really Wednesday......will this week ever end??

So, I got another assignment done for my Psych class. 2 more to go and I am done with that class for the semester. Next up is English. I'm sort of looking forward to English, as it has always been one of my better subjects. I am so ready for this semester to be over with. I just want to move on and get the rest of everything over with.

News of the day, I am no longer being deployed to Cuba in May. Cool, I guess. I wanted to go, as I have never been deployed, but hey, there are perks to not going anywhere. As in being home to see Scout play Little League for his first season. And seeing MiniZiggy grown up more....and getting that laser eye surgery I've been promising myself.

Snow is predicted again, and I think the weathercasters are going to be sorely disappointed, as usual. It's going to rain, and be miserable, but it's not going to dump on us like they would have us believe. But Ziggy still has to work nights for a few days, 'just in case'. People, this is Southern Virginia, not North Dakota, or Alaska. It's not going to come a blizzard this close to water!!!! Silly, silly people. No common sense, I swear.

Anyways, to my small, but faithful readers, sleep well, and have a good night.

Tattoos

Oh, I got my 6th tat Friday night. Bear's wife and I went and we both got inked. She got her daughter's name on her, and I got MiniZiggy on me. That'll do me for a while on tats....

Day off, or is it?

Don't you just love when you don't have to go to work? I do, let me tell you. But, since I don't have to work today, I have Ziggy dropping all kinds of hints that I need to do more around the house. Hey, I ran the dishwasher a couple times yesterday, folded laundry(which I REALLY hate to do) and I made dinner. So I wasn't super-productive girl, but hey, I did some things, right?

So today I have to be a bit more on the productive side so Ziggy will shut up. Right now he's going to run errands so we can get the money from the insurance people and go get the new truck he's discovered. I may have to go buy paint for Scout's room. That will be interesting. another dark blue color. I am also fighting the urge to get on Dell's website and order the laptop that I've been drooling over.

Sunday, February 20, 2005

I love consignment shops

for kids' clothes. I made out like a bandit in one yesterday. For baby clothes, that's the way to go, let me tell you......

It's Sunday, the Daytona 500 is on, and that can only mean one thing..........Ziggy's in front of the TV, along with Scout, and I am free to do absolutely nothing all day. Gotta love it.

So I am catching up on all my surfing that I have missed for the past couple days.

Oh, I got a bitching out at work on Friday. Supposedly I am a troublemaker because I am a smartass. This from the same man who is an asshole to everyone around him, and wants ME to be nice, while he can be a dick all he wants. Yeeaaaa........clear as mud, huh? I thought so too. So, I have resolved not to say much past what I am asked now at work. We'll see how they like that. Kermit bitched at me in front of Cadillac, which I am not sure how he handled. He sat there quiet the whole time. I was gone after 915 on Friday, so I don't know anything else that went on. Not that I care, but hey, I have to have something to amuse me, right?

I'm looking for classes to sign up for next semester. I am dreading having to take Chemistry, but I know I'm going to have to, sooner or later. Just so I can get into the rest of my nursing classes. Ugh.....I hate Chemistry.

Well, that's all for now. Have a good weekend!

Reblued, rescrewed and not tattooed

So I was in this 'Airmen Development course' for 2 days. Who gives certificates of graduation from a 2 day class? The Air Force. It's supposed to remind you of 'why you are here, and your place in the world'. Un-huh. Yea...........so more or less, yes, you must do your job that the Air Force pays you to do. No, your priority of getting your college degree(within your first year of enlistment) is NOT the Air Force's top priority.......ugh. I'm just glad the two days are over, as there wasn't anything in there that I didn't already know. Hell, I was telling the instructors things that THEY didn't know. Eh, such is life.

So, I've been bouncing the idea of staying in for the long haul around. I told Ziggy a little bit about it last night, but he was a bit distracted by the idea of buying a new vehicle. So I'm not sure much I said actually made it into his noggin. But I am going to see if there is a program that will help me stay in, but get my nursing degree and become an officer........Hey, what's the worst that can happen, I stay enlisted and still work? Hey, a paycheck is a paycheck...

Blah Blah Blah

My week thus far, sucks.

First off, it seems that no matter what I touch at work, I can't fix a damned thing. And since that's what I do for a living, fix things, that's bad.

So last Friday, Kermit talks to me about my mouth. He says I can't be smartassed all the time. Ok, so he has a point. I can handle that. So, today when Cadillac is trying to aggravate me into popping off at him, he starts calling me crabby. I told him, look, I talk and I get in trouble, when I don't talk, I get in trouble, MAKE UP MY MIND!!!! Cadillac and I didn't have a good day. I spent most of the afternoon wanting to punch him out cold on the floor. Why? For yelling about my work in front of the whole shop. Bad leadership move, there, Cadillac. You never berate a troop in public, always in private....so he pissed me off. To the point I stepped away from him so I didn't randomly give him an uppercut to the jaw and then get into even deeper trouble. Then he got mad at me for stepping away from him. Men, I swear......can't work for them, can't keep my job if I deck him a good one.

Tomorrow I have to look pretty in my blues. I have to go to this class where they tell you how much you make a difference (not all that much, in the big scheme of things), and tell you that 'someday you'll be a grownup NCO, and then you'll still feel like crap at work 'cause this base is really ate up on itself!' Geez I hate developmental courses.........

So I asked for a day of leave on Friday, to go to Scout's school for an awards assembly. I put in for the leave so I wouldn't have to go through the bullshit of 'comp time' and all that blase blase bullshit. So what happens? Kermit denied my leave, saying that I have to be at work for some bullshit burger burn they are having. Then he wants me there in the afternoon, since the assembly is in the morning. Ok, it's at 1015, and over my dead body am I coming all the way up to the base just to turn aroud and drive right back home for the assembly. This is getting stupid.....

Sorry, today is bitch and moan for me.....

However, I did get a dozen roses and a dozen balloons from Ziggy on Valentine's Day......

Sunday, February 13, 2005

I'm catching up, I think

So, I've got a couple links on the sidebar, go me. Whomever is CoasterJoe in reality, this man has a quandry, I swear....I like reading it.....

Well, on the new car side of the house, Ziggy and I have been shopping for the new vehicle that will sooner or later grace our bank account. Bear went looking with us on Friday night. Bear loves Nissan Frontiers. To the point that when Ziggy and I went looking at Fords, the man damn near pouted!! I thought it was kind of amusing, myself. Anyways, we were going to go do some more shopping today, but no one is open as it's Sunday. So we may just go wander around the really nice Macarthur Center Mall in Norfolk.

Alright, how silly is this? My teacher for my Child Pyschology class posts a message on our announcement board(my classes are online), stating that due to having his dog put down, he won't have our grades our for the assignment that was recently supposed to be returned back to us. Because he and his wife are in mourning over the death of the dog. I thought that might be a little overdoing it, but hey, that's just me.

I looked into some of the nursing programs here in town, offered by the hospitals and such, and to be honest, I don't they will be worth it to me. 3 years of night classes to inish something that should only take 2 years, tops? I don't bloody think so. And then it's not a degree, it's just a certificate saying you completed the training and you are a registered nurse to these people. Heck, I could do all the studying on my own and then take the test that certifies a nurse and not pay these idiots any money. For crying out loud, what happened to the value of a college education?!?!?!

So Valentine's day is tomorrow. My absolutely favorite holiday. And I'm not all that thrilled about it, oddly enough. I think I am coming to the realization that if you are taking care of your relationship every other day of the year, then Valentine's is kind of superficial.

Crazy Girl came up on business, and unfortunately, I didn't get to meet her. But hey, she did say that she may be coming back up in a month, so maybe we'll meet then. She seems pretty cool, despite the craziness in her life, but hey, eveyone has their own craziness to deal with.

Here lately, especially since Ziggy got in the wreck, I had pretty well kissed off the notion of getting out of the Air Force, as the bills need to be paid, and I can't help if I'm not working, too. But, Ziggy and I were talking, and we may work the money out to where it may not be quite so bad if I got out in 2 years. We'll have to see, but hey, it seems like there is atleast a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

Update a bit

Ok, if you haven't noticed yet, I am a bit slow on the whole 'make it all interesting' bit. I am trying, bear with me, some things may not come out right. But I am trying. I hardly get any traffic here, but I am working on that as well.

Just me

So I am scoping out my options on the whole nursing school thing. Part of me wants to get out of the Air Force when this contract is up and go full into school, and the other part of me would rather stay in and get paid all the allowances and such. I don't know, we will see what the future holds.....

664 and a tiring week.......oh, and medical morons

What a week it has been, and it's only Wednesday.

First off, Ziggy got into an accident on Interstate 664, in the freaking tunnel. This was on Monday. He was car #4 in a 5 car accident. All I got was a call on my cell, saying he'd wrecked the truck, be careful at the tunnel. To make matters even more interesting, the insurance company that the guy who caused the accident listed, has never heard of him. Which is a bit interesting, as all active duty military have to have full coverage insurance on your vehicles in order to register your vehicle on base. And this guy was supposedly in the Navy.

Well, Ziggy hooks up with our car insurance company, and they set him up with a rental car, right? Well, he gets the rental, comes home, and then he gets a phone call saying that they need the vehicle back, they accidentally rented him a car that had been sold the day before. So, Ziggy goes to take the vehicle back and trade it for another one. Then they give him a truck that seems like the wheels are going to fall off as he's driving down the road. A real winner, huh? So now he's on his way to the rental car place to try and get something reliable to drive. Meanwhile, the truck that was in the accident goes into the shop for repair estimates tomorrow. Hopefully, and I mean this in the most positive way, they will say that the truck is a total loss. As much as I hate to go into having 2 car payments, I'd rather do that than have to continually pay for things that keep going wrong with a vehicle that was wrecked. On top of this, he'll never get much for it in either trade-in or resale, since it's been wrecked.

Cadillac has been just silly this week. We've been sort of fussing all week. Nothing serious, just picking back and forth at each other and aggravating each other. It's been funny, actually. Almost like arguing with a sibling.

Ah, medical morons..........so I go into the base hospital today, check my medical records out and take them to the Women's Health clinic in order to get my birth control shot. Come to find out, the proof of my last shot never got filed into my records 3 MONTHS AGO!!!! And, in order to get another one, I have to have 2 negative blood pregnancy tests(which means I'd have to do this at work), 2 weeks apart. Because someone failed to do their job and file the paper in my records. God, I love the Air Force. Not.

Something Ziggy said to me

Is still bothering me. Last weekend, Ziggy me and the kids went out to dinner with some friends of ours. On the way there, the husband in the couple, we'll call him Bear, calls and asks where we are in relation to where we are going. I make the comment that Ziggy is being an idiot and not wanting to park in a certain area. Once I am off the phone with Bear, Ziggy is all upset with me. He got upset because I called him an idiot, and said that he doesn't call me names, but that he could if I wanted him to. Now, I wasn't trying to upset Ziggy in the least. But here's what bothers me still....

When Ziggy and I first started dating, I knew that he was very quick to open his mouth and let whatever was on his mind come out of his mouth, and didn't care what the consequences were to this. It took me a long time to get past that with Ziggy. For a bit it was a point of whether or not I wanted to subject myself and Scout to that. Now, that was a bit over 2 years ago. So what bothers me now is what Ziggy thinks of me and doesn't say. My husband and I are very different people, and I have often wondered how we stay together since we are so different. I am not the type of person that can be all out cruel to others. Not for no reason, I should say. Now, once I am pissed off by this person, I can be a cold-hearted bitch. But that's not my everyday nature. This is, however, Ziggy's nature. Ziggy can be cruel to anyone, and not care about it. I have sometimes envied that ability, as I feel like I always care too much about others. Ziggy is more along the 'Take care of number 1' type of thought. His dad and brother are the same way. So the idea that Ziggy could call me names really bothers me. I shudder to think what he would come up with, as he can be very cruel right off the bat. I am not a terribly interesting person. I am not street smart like Ziggy, not the same quick wit, and not the likable kind that is always the popular person in a crowd. Ziggy is all of these things that I am not. Our beliefs don't match, and for that reason, there are things that don't happen in our family that I kind of wish would happen. But I was always taught that if the husband isn't going to go along with things, then it's best to go along with the husband. So, I keep my mouth shut and go on.

It is because of my belief's that I wonder what Ziggy would say about me in calling me names. I know I don't do things that he thinks I should, etc. I try to keep Ziggy happy, I really do, but sometimes I think that my best, or my good isn't what he really wants. I know I don't keep the house clean like he's used to, and I know the laundry tends to pile up despite my efforts to do a load everyday. I don't have the same experiences that he does, he's been so many neat places, and done things that I have only ever heard or read about.

And I am always one step behind everyone, it seems. I always have been. I didn't get to work a job until I was out of high school. I didn't get to do any of the things my friends were doing because I was being a mother while everyone was partying and going to college. I've never been a quick wit, I'd rather read a book than argue. And so, in all of this, I think the true Ziggy would come out if he ever started calling me names. I have long since thought that Ziggy curbs himself in order to keep peace in our house, and that there's plenty he'd rather say than not. And in that, I'd find out what he really thinks, and it's not good, I am certain. Sometimes I can see it in his eyes or on his face. He might care a good deal about me, but I don't think he likes me much.

I may be loved, but I don't think it's ever unconditional. There are always catches, and I think I know of atleast 2 with Ziggy. So I wonder, when will the other shoe drop, and what I see now as my reality, and my normal will cease to exsist. I am reminded that those who love me, or atleast say that they do, will one day leave me. I have always thought that Ziggy would tire of me and Scout one day, and move on to something more interesting.

Weather guessers and idiots

It started snowing here yesterday afternoon. No real accumulation, just flurries, the big 'Hollywood' type flakes that you see in the movies. So little accumulation in fact, that there was a 2 hour delay to the start of schools in part of the area, can you believe it? People, if you want to predict the weather, get a weather rock. This guessing bullshit isn't doing much for you. Computers are only as smart as the people who program and use them, and that ought to tell you all you need to know - so get the damned weather rock, it's more accurate.

So I get this phone call at work yesterday, from MiniZiggy's new daycare. They want me to come get him since he barfed all over himself. I mean it colored the clothes he had on to the point that they didn't know what the color underneath it was. Now, the policy of the center is to call parents to pick up a child after the child has vomited twice. Rather than call me after he's puked twice, they call me after the first(and only) time. (Sidebar, I can't make the italics turn off, I don't have them on, so I am really sorry that this is in Italics)......
So, I get this whole sob story about how there's this virus going around the center, and they don't want a baby as young as MiniZiggy getting sick, so can I keep him out for 24 hours and if he's ok tomorrow, I can bring him back. So, I tell Kermit about it, and he makes me take a day of Leave time in order to care for a sick child. This is the second time in a week that I have been called to come get the baby. I am really starting to see a pattern here. Anyways, work demands that Ziggy and I trade off on who takes care of the kids when they get sick. Since Ziggy took MiniZiggy to the doc on Wednesday for his checkup, it was my turn yesterday. This is getting absolutely insane.

Mundane Tuesday

Today was fairly uneventful, I suppose. Ran a mile and a half in 19:08......way too slow. I have got to get better or I will never pass my PT test well.

I got browbeaten by Kermit to change my kids' doctor to a doc that is closer to work. Which is not something I should have to do to please my workcenter. I told him that the way things are right now works just fine for us, and that I'm not changing it. I don't think he liked that very much, but oh well, too sad for him. Hell, I don't think he likes the idea of my living nearly 30 miles from work anyways.

MiniZiggy is going in for his 4 months well check up and shots. And Ziggy is the one taking him, not me. So this ought to be interesting. Poor Ziggy is going to freak wehn MiniZiggy gets shots, I just know it.
